 | | “We still talk with Steven and Lucy (our guest student and his mother) through pictures on a regular basis. They send us photos from vacations and other random events and we do the same. Last month, Lucy sent a photo of a turkey for Thanksgiving. We sent them a photo of our family sitting around the fully decorated table. Even though language is a challenge, talking through pictures has been a blast.”

 | | “Last winter our family was lucky enough to host two female students from China. Although we were a little anxious about starting this experience, we all decided this would be a wonderful opportunity for our family to learn about a different culture. We have stayed in contact with the girls through Facebook and I even had the wonderful opportunity to visit with them while recently in China! I was the honored guest at their parents’ home for a truly amazing Chinese dinner. I now consider myself the mom of three American daughters and two Chinese daughters. I love these girls and they have made a lasting impression on our entire family!”

We did face some small obstacles, but we learned together how to overcome cultural differences.
