32 Students Participate in 2014 Annual Brake Competition
After more than 20 years, the Oxford High School 2014 Annual Brake Competition is bigger and better than ever! This year, 32 students competed for the top slots.
"This event is held each year to help motivate the students to become better trained in the service of brake systems. Students are paired up and asked to completely disassemble and reassemble a drum brake unit as quickly as possible," explained instructor Dan Balsley. "The work has to be done perfectly. Any errors in craftsmanship will cause that timing to be disqualified."
This year's winning teams are:
- First Place: Jake R. and Sommer D.
- Second Place: Louis U. and Anson R.
- Third Place: Cody B. and Tyler O.
Mr. Balsley would like to thank this year's sponsors: Steve's Oxford Auto Parts, Oxford McDonalds, Oxford Rotary Club, Wright Tool Company, Tom's Hardware, Tractor Supply Company, and Justin Beltramo.
