Welcome to the Oxford Virtual Academy!  I am honored to be the Lead Mentor Teacher for the academy. My role is to aid in curriculum development, encourage student progress and teach students in an innovative and unique educational environment.

My husband, Scott and I have three sons. Two are grown and enjoying pursuing their goals. My youngest is a high school student. We enjoy living in the country with our 2 dogs and summers with our families at our cottage on Lake Huron. I enjoy a good book and a good laugh as often as possible!

I came to Oxford with a business background. After leaving the retail environment I continued to pursue my degree in History and then secondary education. I soon discovered along the way that so many students did not quite fit the traditional way of school. While working at Crossroads for Youth, a great opportunity was presented to help create the Crossing Bridges Alternative School here in Oxford. Curriculum writing and opening a school really cemented in my mind the need for alternative ways to educate our diverse student body. I taught cross-curricular classes of social studies and English there for over a year. Meanwhile, I began to learn about online teaching opportunities. My Online teaching experience allowed me an opportunity to help create the Oxford Virtual Academy and Homeschool Partnership. I officially joined the academy in November. I am pleased to be part of something so innovative and continue the work we began this summer. We see so many students who need a more flexible way of receiving and participating in their education. I am looking forward to working with our unique student body and pioneering new roads in education!
