JOINED OXFORD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

June 2015

Welcome to my classroom! I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and began studying the violin privately and in the public schools. I first lived in Michigan while attending Michigan State University and was pleasantly surprised when I realized the amount of snow shoveling was less than what I was used to! I enjoyed gaining my Master’s degree at Boston University and feel privileged to have studied and played with many great musicians so far in my life.

At Oxford Middle School I direct the 2nd year orchestra as well as all middle school orchestras 6th-8th grade. Our orchestras have received high ratings at Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association festivals in Michigan and we have numerous students who participate in MSBOA Solo & Ensemble, and the Oakland Youth Orchestras. After school, I direct the OMS honors orchestra which has a mission to spread music to our oxford community in performances that mutually benefit our students and audiences. Honors Orchestra has performed in Oxford at Independence Village, Evergreens Café and Bake Shop, and Oxford Concerts in the Park. I am a member of the American String Teachers Association as well as the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association.

As an avid violinist I have held the Principal 2nd violin position with the Rochester Symphony Orchestra since 2015 and during the summer I am a violin faculty member at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Besides practicing my violin and playing chamber music with friends I love to play basketball, enjoy the outdoors, and pretend to be a chef (please don’t tell Gordon Ramsay).
