September 13, Snap Chat Threat Update

Dear Wildcat Families,

We were hoping to share a resolution to the investigation of the potential threat on Snap Chat first communicated with you on Sunday, however, law enforcement is still working intently on determining the root sender of that message.  As stated yesterday, law enforcement does not believe that this message involved Oxford students. Law enforcement still believes that the creator of the message is not an Oxford student and knows that the intended recipient of the message is not and has not been an Oxford student. Unfortunately, due to the unique nature of social media, the source of this message may never be determined.

Out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement will continue to send additional officers to be a present at our schools as they are available. Along with the armed security at every school building and stringent visitor protocols, central office administrators will again be stationed at each building during morning drop-offs tomorrow.  While we do hope to see all of our students in the morning, we understand that every family and every student have their own level of comfort with whether they feel safe to attend school. Again, teachers will continue to assist students who are absent with missing work by posting the day’s activities in Schoology by the end of the day.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work through each day together for the safe education of our students.

Sincerely,
Ken Weaver
Superintendent
