April 14, Upcoming Documentary

Dear Oxford Community Schools Parents/Guardians and Staff,

We are writing to inform you that a one-hour documentary titled “Sins of the Parents: The Crumbley Trials” will premiere on Hulu this Thursday, April 18.  The documentary is expected to explore the parents’ trials and include perspectives and interviews from the Oakland County prosecutor as well as from victims, community members, attorneys, and possibly with one or more jurors.  Our school district was not informed of this documentary until the public trailer was released on Friday and we have not been provided with any additional information.

Given the potential impact of this content, we want to ensure that everyone has access to necessary support.  The mental and emotional well-being of our school community is a top priority and the content of this documentary will affect each of us differently.  As a reminder, trauma therapists have suggested that we surround ourselves with people who will support us in feeling safe and calm, and, if needed, allow ourselves to disconnect from the media and engage in activities that will allow our nervous systems to feel more relaxed.  It is okay to focus on our needs and what we can control.

We will provide support in our schools for staff and students.  In addition, please see the list below of services that are available to any of us – students, families, and staff.

Sincerely,

Oxford Community Schools
