April 17, Next Superintendent for OCS

Dear Oxford Schools’ Community,

Last Night, April 16, 2024, the Board of Education voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Tonya Milligan to serve as the next superintendent for Oxford Community Schools.

Dr. Milligan comes to Oxford with extensive and diverse work experience in K-12 education.  She currently serves as the Executive Director of K-12 Teaching and Learning for Columbus City Schools in Columbus, OH.  She has also previously served as a high school principal, high school assistant principal, as well as teacher leader/curriculum coordinator and has “extensive experience in nurturing resilient communities and leading educational institutions through challenging times.”

Dr. Milligan received her Ed.D. in Educational Administration from Ohio University, as well as an M.A. in Curriculum Development and Instruction and B.A. in Life Science, both from Otterbein College.  In a letter to the school board today, Dr. Milligan stated, “I am excited to begin this new chapter in my educational journey with Oxford and am eager to immerse myself in the district's culture, values, and traditions. I am confident that the love of our students and our collective efforts will lead to continued healing, growth, and success for the entire school community.”

We welcome Dr. Milligan with her vast experience in education and leadership to our Wildcat community. She will begin with Oxford Community Schools on July 1, 2024.
