August 17, Positive COVID Case

August 17, 2020

Dear Staff Member:

We have been notified of a confirmed COVID-19 case that was present in the Central Office and OVA Elementary Lab facilities Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. The limited number of staff members with close contact to this individual have been notified and received specific guidance from the Oakland County Health Division. COVID- 19 is a contagious viral illness that spreads in the air through coughing, sneezing, and talking. Recent information suggests COVID-19 is spread by people who are not showing symptoms. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it, then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. Symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.

Please self-monitor for any symptoms of COVID-19 through August 26th. If you do develop symptoms, we urge you to get tested for COVID-19. Testing locations can be found using the COVID-19 Test Finder at https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus. If you test positive for COVID-19 or are symptomatic and you do not wish to be tested, stay at home until you are fever free for at least 24 hours and it has been more than ten days since the initial onset of symptoms.  Also, please let your supervisor know as soon as possible that you will be self isolating if that is the case.

For additional information regarding COVID-19, please visit the OCHD website at https://www.oakgov.com/health. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jill Lemond at (248) 969-5166.
