The International Baccalaureate program offers a holistic approach to meeting the intellectual, social, and emotional needs of all Oxford students.  Throughout the K-12 experience, students are provided the chance to develop as inquirers, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Oxford Community Schools works to develop an approach to learning that focuses on self-management, communication, thinking, research, and social skills.

The program encourages students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Oxford strives to develop students who will build a better world through intercultural understanding and respect.

With the adoption of the IB program, Oxford is unique because they:

  • encourage students of all ages to think critically and challenge assumptions
  • provide students with a chance to explore personal, emotional, and ethical areas of interest through the elementary school exhibition and the high school personal project
  • encourage students to organize their thinking into concepts that can be transferred to unfamiliar situations
  • develop multilingual students
  • foster the development of physical and emotional health

We provide a continuum of education, consisting of our Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP) that are united by the IB's philosophy and approaches to learning and teaching. These programs together encourage both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development.

The IB Mission: The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners wh
o understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
