July 30, 2020 Possible COVID Case

Good Afternoon,

We received notice today that an individual present during recent Oxford High School football conditioning exhibited symptoms related to COVID-19 and subsequently tested positive for the virus during preliminary testing.  The suspected COVID patient's last known contact with the team was yesterday, July 29.  Please note, this individual was not present during the recent Oxford Youth Football Camp.

We are working closely with the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) to confirm the positive test and identify potential exposure within our community.  We will continue to follow the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) guidelines and exercise appropriate caution while this case investigation ensues.

The CDC guidelines state that when an individual is exposed (less than six feet for greater than 15 minutes) to a confirmed COVID-19 case, he or she should self-quarantine away from others for 14 days. While this case has not yet been confirmed by the OCHD, we encourage all athletes, families, and staff to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms.  If you are concerned about your well-being, you are encouraged to call your healthcare provider.

Due to MHSAA regulations, fall sports conditioning has ended and practices are scheduled to begin August 10.  Upon further communication from the OCHD, we will communicate with all of you to keep you updated.  In the event of a positive case, OCHD will initiate contact tracing and notify any exposed individuals.
