May 17, Transportation Positive COVID-19 Case

May 17, 2021

Dear Staff Member,

The Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) has confirmed a COVID-19 case at the Transportation Building. The positive case is a staff member and was last present in the building on May 13, 2021. This case resulted in two quarantines, both students. This is the only active case in our Transportation Department.

COVID- 19 is a contagious viral illness that spreads in the air through coughing, sneezing, and talking. Recent information suggests COVID-19 is spread by people who are not showing symptoms. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it, then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. Symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.

Please watch yourself for any symptoms of COVID-19 through May 24, 2021. If you develop symptoms, we urge you to get tested for COVID-19. Testing locations can be found using the COVID-19 Test Finder at https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus. If you test positive for COVID-19 or are symptomatic and you do not wish to be tested, stay at home until you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours and it has been more than ten days since the initial onset of symptoms.

For additional information regarding COVID-19, please visit the OCHD website at https://www.oakgov.com/health. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Director Ann Weeden at (248) 969-1858.
