August 27, First Week, Transfer Info. & FAQ's

Wildcat Nation,

Our first week back was awesome! We love having our campuses buzzing with the energy and excitement of our students and staff once again.  We have much to celebrate and it was great to see everyone appreciating all the building improvements made this summer.

Please prepare your child(ren) to return under the county mask mandate this Monday.  As we demonstrated last year, we know how to support learning while students are in masks. We have the winning playbook and will continue to model excellence for our students and community.  We thought it might be helpful for parents to review some frequently asked questions about the Oakland County Emergency Health Order.

It is our earnest goal to keep all students in school, in their parents’ chosen learning programs. Please know, we are bound to uphold the Oakland County Health Division's regulations.  We have an educational mission for your children that is most successful in a positive learning atmosphere.  In accordance with the mandate, any student who chooses not to comply with the mask order will be excluded from the in-person learning environment.

In light of the recent changes, we are opening one more transfer window to accommodate families’ choices. If it is your desire to transfer your student either to the virtual setting or back from virtual to the seated environment, you must complete the In-District Transfer Form by midnight on Wednesday, September 1. We will be notifying administrators of any changes and will move students into their new programs as quickly as possible. Your child should continue to attend their current building or program until you are notified the transfer has occurred. Any transfers made at this point will be for the ENTIRE school year.

We currently have three active cases of COVID-19 in the district and a total of 31 students quarantined, all from Oxford Middle School. At this time, we do not have evidence of in-school transmission. Our weekly COVID reports will begin next Friday. All COVID communications can be found under the COVID-19 tab our website.

We know there are strong opinions on both sides of the mandate.  Now more than ever, our students and staff need all of us to be supportive and compassionate keeping teaching and learning the focus in our educational environments.

Let’s have a great year together, Wildcats!
