December 14, No School Remainder of the Week

Dear Wildcat Nation,

Although law enforcement has cleared the district school buildings for our safe reopening tomorrow, we have heard from an overwhelming amount of our staff and families since our earlier message regarding our return.  Many in our community have expressed concern surrounding yesterday's threat and do not feel ready to return tomorrow. This has caused us to pause and consider the current needs and emotional well-being of our school community.

Therefore, we have decided to close all district school buildings for the remainder of the weekincluding OELC, the OVA labs, and OVA hybrid locations.

Our number one priority is the safety and emotional well-being of our students and staff. Our hope and intention was to continue rebuilding this week but we feel that in such a sensitive and raw time it is better to reopen after the holiday break.

Any sporting events currently scheduled for district facilities are canceled. Any sporting event at non-district facilities or outside the district will continue as planned until further notice. Additionally, Thursday’s high school event at the Legacy Center will continue as scheduled with an increased law enforcement presence. School district offices will remain open.

I apologize for the inconvenience.  I understand how challenging this situation has been for our staff, families, and students. We can and will get through this together and emerge stronger.

Oxford StrOng,
Tim Throne, Superintendent
