The District has needed to creatively problem solve employee shortages only made worse with numerous quarantined staff members this week, most notably in food services. Next week, however, we do not have enough coverage to remain operational as a whole. In strategically planning for these known operational gaps, we are moving all middle and high school students (inlcuding OMS, OHS, and OBHS) to synchronous remote learning on Monday, November 22, and Tuesday, November 23. Further details are noted below. Our current plan is to shift support staff that will not be needed at the secondary schools to our elementary schools to continue providing in-person instruction for our youngest learners. All district elementary schools and OELC classes will report to school in-person as scheduled. Additionally, the OVA labs will remain open.
Important details for OMS, OHS, and OBHS students:
- Remote classes for all middle and high school students next week will follow their regular school day. All lessons will be live and synchronous. Students must log in to each class and attendance will be marked and is required. Students will receive further detailed direction from their principals by the end of this week.
- High school athletic practices and competitions will go on as planned. However, students should look for communication from their coaches for delayed start times to accommodate travel time once the remote school day ends. All after-school clubs at the high school level are cancelled.
- Middle school athletic practices and after-school activities are cancelled with the exception of the middle school basketball, which will go on as planned.
- Any student in need of meals may pick-up food in the north entrance of Oxford High School from 3 – 4 pm on Monday.
