October 13, Statement on OCSO Press Release

Dear Oxford Parents and High School Students,

Today, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office released a press statement (see OCSO attachment) detailing the arrest of a 14-year old Oxford Township boy for making threats and posting pictures of guns on social media. Oxford Community Schools was not informed of this situation as the investigation did not involve threats towards Oxford Community Schools’ students and staff and the threats were not made on school grounds. Because it was not a school related issue, we became aware of the situation in the same manner and time as you did. The matter is an open investigation and is being handled by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and the Oakland County Prosecutor. Due to the age of the individual involved, there is limited amount of information that these offices may be able to share at this time. Please direct all inquiries to their offices as we have the same information that you have. We appreciate the quick actions by the Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies to maintain the safety and security of our community.
